Our Dual Stabiliser Fibre is a sand stabiliser designed to improve arena surfaces by creating a more consistent, cushioned and supportive riding surface. Manufactured by Combi-Ride, it is a proven solution for improving equine arena surfaces across a wide range of disciplines.
Developed in collaboration with Askham College, Dual Stabiliser Fibre uses exclusive Combi-Ride technology to improve surface stability without making the arena feel hard or compacted.
The fibre blend combines pulverised nylon-based polymer with rubber fleck. When mixed into sand, this helps bind the surface together while maintaining natural movement, resulting in a safer and more comfortable arena surface.
Dual Stabiliser Fibre can be used in both new and existing arena surfaces. It is particularly effective for revitalising existing sand-based surfaces by reducing excessive movement and preventing uncomfortable firmness underfoot.
This makes it suitable for dressage arenas, show jumping arenas and general training or schooling arenas where consistency and comfort are essential.
Key benefits include:
- Improved surface stability
- Better moisture retention
- Reduced maintenance requirements
- Increased support and cushioning
- Consistent long-term performance
Whether you’re improving an existing arena or installing a new one, Arena Fibre provides a reliable, comfortable solution for everyday riding and training.

Comparing Arena Fibre Options
Dual Stabiliser Fibre is a reliable, balanced solution for improving arena surfaces for horses, particularly where consistency, comfort and low maintenance are key. However, depending on how your arena is used, you may also want to consider our advanced alternative.
For higher-use or performance-led equine arena surfaces, Combi-Pro Advanced Fibre offers increased cushioning and support through an enhanced fibre blend. It is often chosen for professional or competition-focused arenas where long-term performance is the priority.
The table below compares both arena fibre options to help you decide which solution is best suited to your arena surface, usage level and riding discipline.

FAQs
-
What is arena fibre and how does it benefit an equestrian arena?
Arena fibre is a specialised material added to equestrian arena surfaces, improving stability, shock absorption and traction. It works by binding with the sand to create a firmer, more resilient footing which can support horses’ movements. This helps reduce strain on your horses joints and ligaments.
-
How does arena fibre differ from traditional sand or other footing materials?
Arena fibre offers unique benefits compared to traditional sand-only surfaces or other materials. Sand by itself can compact unevenly or shift, fibre binds with sand, creating a more stable and consistent surface. This stability allows horses to perform without risk of slipping or uneven footing, providing better cushioning and longevity.
-
Is arena fibre suitable for all equestrian disciplines?
Yes, arena fibre is versatile and suitable for all equestrian disciplines, including dressage, show jumping and eventing. It provides a balanced surface which supports both low-impact and high-impact activities, making it a popular choice across disciplines.
-
Can I add fibre to my existing sand footing?
Arena fibre can be incorporated into existing sand footing to improve stability and performance. Adding fibre is a cost-effective way to upgrade your current arena without the need for a complete rebuild. Get in touch with our team to learn how to achieve the right balance for your specific needs.
-
How do I maintain my arena fibre footing?
Maintaining arena fibre footing involves a few routine steps. This includes regular levelling to prevent uneven areas, periodic watering in dry periods and removing any manure or debris. Occasional topping up with additional fibre may be required over time to maintain the surface quality.
-
Does arena fibre reduce dust and improve moisture retention?
Arena fibre is designed to reduce dust and improve moisture retention. The fibres help bind the sand particles, minimising airborne dust and reducing the amount of watering needed to maintain a safe and dust-free environment. This quality makes it particularly beneficial for indoor arenas or dry climates.
-
Does my arena need replacing or can it be rejuvenated?
If your arena is riding deep, suffering from poor drainage, or has inconsistent footing, it doesn’t always mean the surface needs replacing. These problems are often caused by compaction, incorrect surface depth, or a lack of regular maintenance. A Combi-Ride professional will assess your arena and recommend the most cost-effective solution, focusing on rejuvenation and improvement before considering a full rebuild.
